REVIEW:-

Honest review
1. Flipkart service great as always. Packing was okay (instead of wrapping in bubble wrap it was wrapped in small piece of carton due to which box got little damaged) but delivery time was excellent. Delivered in 2 days.
2. Router build quality is okay. As many customers already told about gloss finish easily gets scratched So, I won't get into that details and for me a router looks is not important, its functions are.
3. For those who don't know about 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz dual band wifi. Please be informed that 2.4 GHz is frequency of wifi signal having more range than 5 GHz and former is supported by all wifi devices.
4. MU-MIMO technology is only for 5 GHz wifi and not all devices supports it and not every router including this one.
5. Router is working fine with ftth bb and the wifi signal range of 2.4 GHz is also good but signal range of 5 GHz is below par. So, if you are considering this model for 5 GHz. I will advise that skip it for better router with MU-MiMo and gigabit lan (1gpbs) as to extend jio ftth or any other isp providing 100 mbps or more bandwidth (older computers only comes with 100 mbps lan speed and upto 150 mbps wifi, so please check your hardware before getting more than 100 mbps plan).
6. It's been only 12 hrs since the router is on so, any issue or drop in internet connection is too soon to comment on. Right now it's working fine.
7. Coming to 2.4 GHz @ channel width 20 MHz supports upto 150 mbps speed and at 40 MHz speed goes to 300 mbps (this speed is of router internal network and not of internet that depends on your isp).
If you live in apartment where there are many other wifi. The router will work @ 20 MHz as interference of other wifi is less than @ 40 MHz (combined channel).
8. As I already told earlier about 5GHz signal range so, it becomes pointless to comment on speed as it is less than 2.4 GHz if you are away more than 10 feet of router or in any other room.
9. For me the 5 GHz band has become only for show than to be of practical use and that's the reason of it being sold at low price.
10. So at last the question comes to, is this router worth buying and my answer is subject to ones need.
a) if anyone have internet connection upto 75 mbps speed and live in less dense wifi area where there are only couple of other wifi. This router will definitely work best.
b) for those who are considering it for 5 GHz band, it will be best for halls or large open space where there is less blocking of signal from walls.
c) Tweaks: to get maximum speed and stability, set wifi channel to 1, 6 or 11 @ 20 MHz (for dense populated wifi zones)
@ 40 MHz set it to channel 3 (for low populated wifi zones)
& last for 5 GHz set it to Auto as interference is not an issue.
Hope my review will help others to decide. Have a nice day

2)

OK. I had searched for so many answers but didn't get it all answered even after going through all the reviews. Anyways bought this Dir819 unit in Aug 2019. I'll try to answer all questions I was looking for, maybe it'll hep others. Also I went for this model specifically since it had both 2.4Ghz (more penetration thru walls) and 5Ghz (higher speed) antennas
1) I primarily wanted this as a repeater to my main Keralavision broadband internet which was connected to a huawei wifi router (built in modem). And this works very well with it but with a condition. details in next point
2) There is an option to setup the unit as a wireless repeater/extender using the 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
3) Do the setup in the same way below, I'll tell you why later. First login to the router thru browser (details will be available on a card that you'll have in the box). Setup a new admin password. Then select the device to become a extender (I used 2.4GHz antenna). Then change the wifi password for the extender. Finally do the "site survey" and connect the device to the actual modem's wifi. Just once thing you have to be careful is that if your modem password has a symbol "@" or "!" etc, it wouldn't let you setup the extender as the session gets logged out for some bizzare reason. So I had to change my original Huawei modem's wifi password to just have alphabets and numbers. And then when I tried to connect my dlink, it worked. I literally went nuts over this issue and could figure it out after playing around for 2 days with this thing.
4) The reason I told you to do the steps in point3 is that once you setup the unit as an extender, I coulnd't get back to the admin panel no matter what I typed in (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or dlinkrouter(dot)local etc). For some reason you will not have access to the DIR819 panel instead it takes me straight to the modem's (Huawei) admin panel. SO if you thought of changing the dlink wifi password after setting up the device, you won't be able to do it. You would have to reset the device and start all over again or live with the existing password whatever you have on that card.

Once setup, the unit works flawlessly. the range i very very good. I have the unit in the hall upstairs and my actual modem is downstairs and my room is 2 rooms away from the unit and I still get 4 out of 5 signal. Which is pretty good compared to fact that it has to penetrate thru 3 walls to reach my room.
